| seer February 16, 2005 07:24 PM PST Swadesh is good though it moves slow. it shows an NRI helping the people of his native village, what every INDIAN has to do a NRI does it. that's all. | ||
| bharani January 13, 2005 10:58 AM PST what he wants to convey is clear...but not as convincing as it shd be...movie making, IMHO, is about conveying convincingly...even a weak storyline can be picturised effectively with suitable instances...like for instance along with the 'electric power' effort, there could have been more....the reason why he chooses to return back to India should have been strengthened/substantiated.... it was another general time pass movie... | ||
| Sangeetha January 12, 2005 09:01 PM PST Swades was a different movie considering the usual plots that now run in all the theatres off late. That is something that should surely be appreciated - that a director thinks out of the box and makes a movie for the masses and not jus the urban dwellers. Its a movie with a social message and the story is all about the experiences of an educated individual who has misgivings about the comfortable life style he leads. Its basically a coming of age story. And regarding expectations, I think one should treat things for what they are and not join the popular bandwagon and set unrealistic expectations. So what if he made a great commercial grosser once. Y shud that limit his next output? Movies are an artistic medium of expression and he has chosen to express sthg here. And Swades is a very decent effort towards that. At least what the director chose to convey was clear at the end of the movie! | ||
