| Bharani December 5, 2003 05:30 PM PST hey ravages, chakra, good u found the link useful.. | ||
| Chakra December 5, 2003 04:51 PM PST Quite useful one - that schedule page. I am not a connoiseur in music.. for I just hear it, feel it & enjoy.. | ||
| Ravages December 4, 2003 11:44 AM PST Hey! That list is damn useful, the list of Kutcheries. Hope to catch a few, but ... | ||
| Bharani December 4, 2003 10:57 AM PST Yes, there are two ways to carnatic music - 1) understand the raaga and enjoy its beauty by appreciating its intricacies 2) Simply enjoy the notes as you would enjoy any other form of music. no investigation. ignorance is bliss. | ||
| Justme December 4, 2003 10:36 AM PST yes, the live concerts are definitely more fun! But i don't understand music really, the way you seem to, i just like to feel it and let myself go with the flow.... | ||
| Bharani December 4, 2003 09:24 AM PST S.K, thats why i said at the "end" of the song...that gives me ample time to find out the raaga... The musician announcing the raaga/thaala is common in concerts performed abroad. | ||
| S.K December 3, 2003 07:01 PM PST Oh, My! I missed the "miss" in the last post, miss :-) | ||
| S.K December 3, 2003 06:52 PM PST But I'll all such fun this year, sitting on Uncle Sam's laps :( | ||
| S.K December 3, 2003 06:50 PM PST Announcements on the metadata of the songs is ok, especially if an MC or CJ (concert jockey) does it - I feel the performer him(her)self talking in between a bit incongruent and a sore intrusion into the atmosphere developed by the musician. But don't you think it steals from you the thrill of deciphering the raga and guessing the kriti's that gives you more satisfactory feeling of your own interactive participation in the concert. It sort of gives the fullness of a live concert, IMHO. Like last time in Parthasarathy Sabha concert of Aruna Sayeeram, I was debating whether a particular one was Keeravani or Keernavali and won a wager from a lady seated next to me (she was quite an eyeful, but that is a different matter!) | ||
| guru'ni' December 3, 2003 05:52 PM PST An advantage of listening to music on those sony speakers is...u can fast fwd a song u dont like....rewind and play the song u like again .....u cant do any of this...all u can do is walk out from the hall :))) | ||
